A blog is one of the easiest ways to generate fresh and unique content for your website and also to get the links. Quality, unique and interesting content naturally attracts links. There are many ways to optimize a blog and to get the biggest bang for your buck.

What is a blog? a blog is basically a content management system, and an interactive website that allows you to create and post fresh content on the web, connect with the customers and over all reduce your dependence on any support to make changes.  Some things to keep in mind when writing a blog:

1.      Why are you writing blog? Have a clearly articulated objective & purpose of starting your blog, there are many reasons why companies benefit from publishing a blog. Know your target audience and write about themes that will appeal to them.

2.      Use an Attractive Template – Looks count everywhere, so always remember that your blog theme should be well presented, easy to read, attractive and good in look and feel.

3.      Use RSS Feed – Make sure your blog has an RSS available. Many blogs don’t have RSS feed automatically available, so should add it.

4.      Offer RSS & Feed Subscription Buttons – When people want to subscribe to a blog, they will often look for the orange RSS logo.

5.      Use Tag Clouds – Tag cloud are basically keywords from the various posts on your blog that are linked to a search result that include all articles related to the keywords.

6.      Optimize your Title and Description– Customize you post Title and Description because your blog software automatically creates the Title for your post by pulling the text out of your post heading.

7.      CEO Blogging – Priceless! If you are running a business you should have some posts written by your CEO and members of the management team because this is the VOICE of the company.

8.      Navigation is the key – If your blog is part of a larger site such as corporate site then don’t just link this to the home page. Syndicate your recent blog post headline into the sidebar on the main website to encourage visitors to check out the blog too.

9.      Use Anchor Text – When we link to someone’s blog or our previous blog post then we need to link properly by using anchor text.

10.  Spread the links – If you are writing about a story or taking some information from other sites, please ensure that you link and give references.
